Public Notice on Change of Dates for the flight from Saudi Arabia

Riyadh, 25th August 2020: The Uganda Embassy in Riyadh extends its heartfelt greetings to the Ugandans living and working in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Reference is made to our communication dated 19th August 2020 on the subject above, particularly calling on all Ugandans in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to make bookings and payments for a special repatriation flight scheduled for Saturday, 29th August 2020.

Unfortunately, the flight will not be operated on the scheduled date due to the following reasons;

1.     The minimum number of required passengers for the flight to be operated was not reached as per the deadline set of Tuesday, 25th August 2020. The travel agency informed the Embassy that it has so far received payments for the flight from 250 passengers as opposed to the required number of 330 passengers for the flight to be operated.

2.     The Ministry of Health of the Republic of Uganda has informed the Embassy that it has no space in the public quarantine facilities and as such all intending travelers have to be booked in the private quarantine facilities. Unfortunately, only 20 out of the 250 have made reservations in the designated private quarantine facilities,therefore, the Ministry of Health can not clear the said flight.

3.     Majority of the intending travelers have not secured the PCR test for COVID-19 which is a requirement for travel to Uganda.

This is therefore to inform the public that the flight has been rescheduled for Monday, 7th September 2020, to give time for Ugandans to make the bookings and payments for this flight and also make arrangements for the private quarantine facilities as prescribed by the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Uganda.

Therefore,the flight will ONLY carry those who are ready to meet the cost ofprivate quarantine which should be reserved and paid for prior to issuance ofthe ticket.
